Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James was at the San Diego Comic-Con today doing a book signing, and according to the Hollywood Reporter many fans came prepared to let E.L. know just who they pictured as the leads in the soon-to-be film adaptation of her book. Emilia once again proved to be one of the fans’ top choices for Ana Steele.
Waiting fans expressed definite opinions about who should play lead characters Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Many came with prints outs of their choice or with photos on their phone, ready to lobby James.
A majority favored Matt Bomer (White Collar) or Ian Somerholder (Vampire Diairies) for Grey. Choices for Anastasia were all over the map. The single most popular choice was probably Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), with a few others mentioning former Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel.
I have been patiently waiting for this trailer to be released. The story sounds like something right up my alley, and the Animated Title Sequence had me intrigued. Shackled is a short film pilot about a young woman named Malu (Emilia Clarke) who is held captive by her husband Jesse in a circus. It is a psychological thriller set in the 1950’s Louisiana. The trailer still holds a lot of mystery which has me waiting for more.
With the men’s champion having been crowned, it is time that we turn to the women. Last year, it was a Harry Potter sweep: Helena Bonham Carter captured the 2011 crown, defeating runner-up JK Rowling, with Dame Maggie Smith taking bronze against Emma Watson. But with the Harry Potter films no longer dominating the cineplexes, there is room for new blood. And with additions like Lara Pulver, Michelle Dockery, and Emilia Clarke, well, there will be blood in this battle.
Rules for this second annual tournament remain the same: in our quest to name the Anglophile fan favorite of 2012, we’re pitting 32 British celebrities against each other in an epic fan voting tournament.
Each week you’ll vote for winners in a set of matchups, whittling down the field until there is one man standing — the Champion.
As athletes vie for victory in the Summer of London, we’ll be naming our Woman of 2012. Who will it be? Rally the troops, make those calls, and most of all, VOTE! Round 1 voting ends Thursday, July 19 at 11 am ET.
