THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER – Han Solo is setting course for Cannes.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will be unveiled at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The screening will occur May 15, 10 days before the Lucasfilm project’s official opening on May 25.

Solo stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, as well as Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson. Ron Howard, who stepped in following the firing of Phil Lord and Chris Miller last June, directed the film.

Star Wars has had a presence at Cannes in the past. Both 2002’s Attack of the Clones and 2005’s Revenge of the Sith played out of competition at the festival. The previous three Star Wars films — 2015’s The Force Awakens, 2016’s Rogue One and 2017’s The Last Jedi — have had their world premieres in Los Angeles. Howard brought his Da Vinci Code to the fest in 2006.

Cannes is set to run May 8-May 19

EW – Game of Thrones fans know her as Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, rightful heir to the Iron Throne, rightful Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains.

Star Wars fans will come to know Emilia Clarke only as: Qi’ra.

This is a character who doesn’t want her full resume out there. She’s a woman of shadows, of secrecy. She’s a woman of many identities, the truest ones hidden away and only visible to those she trusts, which may be no one.

She’s also one of the primary forces that shape the young smuggler we meet in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

As part of Entertainment Weekly’s cover story about the May 25 movie, we caught up with Clarke to discuss what we need to know about this galactic femme fatale.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Are you currently shooting the final season of Game of Thrones?

EMILIA CLARKE: Technically I am currently shooting Game of Thrones. But right now I am in Rome shooting a D&G campaign. So sort of a mixture of the two.

Sounds like a busy time, so thanks for talking to me about Qi’ra. She and Han Solo go back to their childhoods, so can you characterize the setup of their relationship?

Well, they grew up as comrades, essentially. They grew up as pals, as partners in crime. There is obviously the romantic side of things. But they grew up together. So they were kids together. And the beautiful thing about this Han Solo story is it’s highlighting all of the most brilliant aspects of Han Solo the character and characterizing those aspects in characters that he meets on his journey to becoming who he is.

These people all represent different sides of who he becomes?

That’s kind of the story, really. You are seeing all of these different elements that make up who he is through the people and the interactions and the relationships just as we all do as human beings. We are simply the embodiment of our experiences, essentially.

They’re guiding him, inspiring him. Maybe corrupting him?

You see the beginnings of him, this loveable rogue. You get it fine-tuned throughout these relationships, and Qi’ra is one of those relationships that has an impact on him as a character. I mean, hopefully [laughs] — if I have done my job. And within that relationship, the thing that that you see with Qi’ra is that she an enigma.

So through her, he learns not to show his cards to people.

She is a little bit of a tough one to get a hold of, really. There is this underlying joy in an origin story because you know where they end up. And Qi’ra is nowhere to be seen, so … something has happened! [Laughs] You know what I mean?

The film will give us a reason why he doesn’t talk about her?

DAILY MAIL – She became the new face of Dolce & Gabbana’s fragrance The One, alongside Game of Thrones co-star Kit Harrington.

And Emilia Clarke launched herself into the fashion world as she filmed some new promotional material for the designer brand in Rome on Sunday.

The 31 year-old actress appeared right at home as she slipped into some of the fashion heavyweight’s sartorial choices, donning a decadent lacy black shift dress for the new campaign.

The screen queen beamed as she prepared for her fashionable moment, bundling up against the cold day in a large chestnut jacket.

Emilia’s petite frame was heightened by her classic patent black heels as she carefully meandered through the cobbled streets.

Her freshly dyed platinum blonde locks – a signature from her character on the HBO fantasy drama – sat loosely on her shoulders with light curls tucked behind her ears.

The Me Before You actress opted for a pair of ultra glamorous gold earrings with a matching pendant, with the black-accented beads matching her dress perfectly.

She added a pop of colour to an otherwise subdued look, with a deep berry red lip and lashings of mascara.

Emilia appeared to enjoy the company surrounding her, having a quick laugh with the production crew as she prepared to film the latest perfume campaign.

Kit Harington joined in too, all for charity!

HUFFINGTON POST – To be a fly on the wall for that viewing party.

On Saturday in LA, actor Brad Pitt offered up over a hundred grand for the chance to watch an episode of “Game Of Thrones” with Daenerys Targaryen herself, Emilia Clarke.

Pitt’s bid of $125,000 was part of a charity event for J/P Haitian Relief Organization & Disaster Relief Organization, founded by Sean Penn to help relief efforts after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

The event was attended by celebs like Lena Dunham, Jason Segel, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Leonardo DiCaprio and Clarke’s “Thrones” co-star Kit Harington.

Pitt initially bid $80,000, then increased that to $90,000. After Harrington offered to join Clarke and the winning bidder, Pitt raised his bid to $120,000.

Unfortunately for Pitt (but fortunately for the people of Haiti), an unidentified individual won the auction by outbidding him and putting up $160,000 to watch “Game Of Thrones” with Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington.

That’s a large sum to watch one episode, but ultimately for a good cause. By night’s end, the gala raised an astounding $37 million to fund J/P HRO’s relief efforts in Haiti.
